About This Opportunity
CMS VATAVARAN is one of Asia's largest competitive film festivals and forums dedicated to environmental and wildlife cinema. Founded in 2002 by the Centre for Media Studies, the festival showcases films from India and around the world that highlight conservation, climate change, biodiversity, and community-led environmental action.
The festival is open to filmmakers in Indian and International categories, with a dedicated Youth category for young filmmakers under 25 years, split into Under 16 and Under 25 sub-categories. School and college students can submit short environmental films of up to 30 minutes on any conservation or sustainability theme, from local school projects to global climate activism.
Submitted films pass through a three-tier jury process, and shortlisted entries are screened at the festival venue in New Delhi. Winning films receive trophies, certificates, public screenings, and visibility across festival partner networks, including the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, WWF India, IUCN CEC, and GIZ.
