About This Opportunity
The Diamond Challenge is a prestigious global entrepreneurship competition for high school students, organized by Horn Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware. It provides a unique platform for young minds to explore their entrepreneurial spirit by developing and presenting original business or social venture concepts. The competition offers free resources, including a comprehensive curriculum, to guide participants through the entrepreneurial process from problem discovery to pitching their ideas.
Participants form teams and choose between two tracks: Business Innovation, focused on solving customer problems and generating revenue, or Social Innovation, aimed at addressing societal or environmental issues for positive impact. The challenge emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and gain firsthand experience in creating scalable solutions. It's designed to unleash creativity and promote purposeful entrepreneurial action.
Beyond the competition, the Diamond Challenge fosters a global community of like-minded peers, mentors, and industry professionals. Finalists are invited to the Limitless World Summit, a multi-day event that offers networking opportunities, workshops, and presentations from world-class speakers, further enhancing their entrepreneurial journey and providing pathways to higher education.

Academic requirement
Must be enrolled in an official high school/secondary education institution or program for the duration of the Diamond Challenge.
Prerequisites
- Interest in entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of problem-solving and creative thinking.
Additional requirements
- Each team must have one adult advisor aged 21 or older.
- Each student may participate on only one team and submit one concept per competition year.
- Concepts must not have generated more than $100,000 in total revenue prior to the submission deadline.
- Concepts that have advanced to the final round (Summit) in prior years cannot be resubmitted.
Open to high school students aged 14-18 globally. Participants must be enrolled in a high school/secondary education program and form teams of 2-4 students with an adult advisor (21+). Each student can submit one concept per year. Concepts must be original and not have generated over $100,000 in revenue.

A share of the $100,000 prize pool is awarded to top teams. The top Business and Social ventures receive $12,000 each in startup capital. Second place winners receive $8,500 and third place winners receive $4,500. Prize money can be used to fund ventures or for higher education.

Recognition Certificate
Semifinalists receive digital recognition certificates, while Finalists receive printed recognition certificates. All honorees of the Emerging Innovator Awards receive a certificate of recognition.

Selection process
In the DIAMOND Challenge, teams are first evaluated on their written concept, video, and pitch presentations based on feasibility, growth potential or social impact, and wow factor. For the final round, semifinalists pitch live at the Summit, where judges assess clarity, market validation, and Q&A responses along with the core criteria. Winners are selected through combined scores and judges' deliberation.
