About This Opportunity
The SOF Girl Child Scholarship Scheme (GCSS) is an annual initiative by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) designed to offer financial assistance to academically inclined girl students from economically weaker sections throughout India. This scholarship aims to ensure that deserving girls can pursue their school education without financial barriers, fostering gender equality in educational opportunities.
To be eligible, girl students must be enrolled in Class 1 to 10 at a recognized school in India and have achieved at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade in their previous academic year. The combined monthly income of their parents should be less than ₹25,000. This marks criterion may be relaxed for students with major physical disabilities.
Selected students will receive an annual scholarship of ₹5,000, directly credited to their bank accounts. A total of 300 deserving girl children will be chosen from across India. This scholarship provides crucial academic encouragement and financial aid, helping students progress towards a brighter future and empowering them through education.
The application process requires schools to nominate one eligible girl student. The nomination form, along with necessary documents such as the previous year's report card certified by the Principal, must be submitted to the Science Olympiad Foundation. All nominations are thoroughly evaluated by a dedicated committee appointed by SOF, and their decision is final.
