Rounds & format

The competition has two phases. Phase 1 is a preliminary screening where a panel of judges reviews the submitted project videos and shortlists the top entries. In Phase 2, the shortlisted students present their projects online to another panel of judges, who then select the final winners.

How entries are judged

Projects are evaluated on parameters like genuineness of the idea, newness, potential for marketability, and the quality of the video submission. The theme is 'Low Cost Grassroots Innovation', so the model/prototype should ideally be within a budget of Rs. 5,000 and solve a problem for the common person.

Selection process

Selection is based on a two-phase process. First, a panel shortlists around 100 projects from all online video submissions. These shortlisted students then present their projects live in an online demonstration to a second panel of judges who select the 13 final winners.

How to apply

  1. 1Register and submit the project video on the official Avishkar Awards website.
  2. 2The video must be a demonstration of the idea, model, or prototype with a clear voice explanation.
  3. 3The video should be between 3 to 7 minutes long with a maximum file size of 100 MB.
