Rounds & format
The competition begins with a written preliminary round at the city level. Top teams from the written test qualify for an oral quiz on stage. City winners then proceed to the state finals, and state winners compete in the national semi-finals and the grand finale.
How entries are judged
Selection is based on the scores obtained in each round. In the oral quiz rounds, points are awarded for correct answers, and there may be bonus points for specific questions. The team with the highest score at the end of the final round is declared the winner.
