About This Opportunity
The International Economics Olympiad (IEO) is a premier global competition designed for high school students passionate about economics, finance, and business. It provides a prestigious platform where young minds from around the world showcase their analytical thinking, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial creativity. The Olympiad’s mission is to identify, challenge, and inspire future leaders who can apply economic reasoning and business insight to real-world problems.
Participation begins at the national level, where students compete in qualifying rounds conducted by their country’s authorized partner organization. In India, the official national organizer and representative body is Meccademia Education Institute, a reputed educational institution committed to promoting academic excellence and international learning opportunities. Meccademia oversees the national selection process, offering Indian students the opportunity to compete for a place at the global finals.
At the international stage, the IEO evaluates participants through three distinct components: an individual Economics test, a Financial Literacy simulation, and a team-based Business Case presentation. These sections together assess students’ theoretical understanding, decision-making, teamwork, and real-world application of knowledge. The competition emphasizes practical thinking and innovation, encouraging participants to propose viable solutions to modern economic and business challenges.
