About This Opportunity

The International Foundation Indian Music Olympiad (IFIMuO) is an online competition designed to assess and enhance students' knowledge and skills in Indian music. Organized by the International Olympiad Foundation (IOF), this olympiad provides a platform for young musicians to showcase their talent and deepen their understanding of various aspects of Indian music. It is open to students from Class 6 to Class 12 across India and globally.

Students from all recognized boards, including CBSE, ICSE, ISC, IB, IGCSE, and State Boards, are eligible to participate. The competition is conducted entirely online, allowing students to take the exam from their homes or any location with internet access. Participants need a Windows desktop, laptop, tablet, or Android smartphone with a working camera and a broadband internet connection.

Participants gain valuable experience in competitive examinations and receive recognition for their musical abilities. Top performers are awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with printed certificates and e-certificates. All students who attempt the Olympiad receive a participation e-certificate, fostering a sense of accomplishment and encouraging continued musical learning.

The syllabus is based on the school curriculum for Classes 6-12, covering topics such as Sangeet ke Kaal, Swaras (Shuddh, Vikrit, Chal-Achal), Dhwani, Naad, Saptak, Shruti, Thaat, Margi Sangeet, Deshi Sangeet, Anibaddh & Nibaddh Gan, various forms of Geet (Shastriya, Bhav Sangeet, Chitrapat, Lok Sangeet), Dhrupad, Dhamar, Khayal, Thumri, Tappa, Tarana, Qawali, and Swarlipis (Vishnu Digambar & Bhatkhande ji).

Fee details

For students studying in India, the fee is ₹150 for each Olympiad. A 20% discount is available if you select 5 or more Olympiads. For students studying outside India, the fee is USD 8 for each Olympiad, with a 20% discount on selecting 5 or more Olympiads. The Olympiad is free for Indian students whose parents were martyred during defense operations.
