About This Opportunity

What's covered
The syllabus covers key areas of Western music including Pitch and Scales (notes on treble and bass clef, transposing melodies, major/minor/chromatic/pentatonic scales, key signatures, intervals), Rhythm (note values, dotted notes, time signatures, beaming, triplets, syncopation), and Instruments and Voice (parts of instruments, identification of orchestral instruments, vocal ranges, dynamics, articulation). The exam also includes a Logical Reasoning section.

All participants who attempt the exam receive a Participation E-Certificate. Merit E-Certificates (Gold, Silver, Bronze) are awarded to students scoring 70% and above.

Rounds & format
The competition consists of a single online examination. The exam includes sections on Logical Reasoning, and Western Music specific content covering Pitch and Scales, Rhythm, and Instruments and Voice.
How entries are judged
Performance is evaluated based on scores in the online examination. There is no revaluation process.
Selection process
Students who appear for the Olympiad and attempt the exam are eligible for awards based on their performance and scores. Winners are entitled to the higher-level award if they qualify for multiple categories.

Fee details
For students studying in India, the fee is ₹150 for each Olympiad. A 20% discount is offered if a student selects 5 or more Olympiads. For students studying outside India, the fee is USD 8 for each Olympiad, with a 20% discount on selecting 5 or more Olympiads. Indian students whose parents were martyred during defense operations can participate for free.
