Students qualify by achieving high scores in national-level qualifying exams (e.g., National Geography Bee / US Geography Championships National Qualifying Exam) or by placing in the top percentages at regional and national tournaments. For instance, scoring 75+ for High School, 65+ for Middle School, or 55+ for Elementary/Intermediate on qualifying exams, or finishing in the top 1/3 at regional tournaments or top 2/3 at national championships. Winners of the international geography championship will be selected based on their performance in different events.

Fees & financial support
Fee details
The base fee for competing students will $1875 USD. An early bird discount of $100 will be available, making it $1775 USD. This fee includes program fees, sightseeing entry, tour guide fees, a public transit pass, and commemorative items (T-shirt, hat, pin). It generally does not include most meals or accommodations, though optional accommodation supplements may be available for high school students.
Refund policy
Full refunds minus a $50 processing fee were available for a specific time period. No refunds will be available after that.
