Rounds & format
Round 1 (Opens): 60 minutes, virtual & in-person. Format includes 40 questions (35 MCQ & 5 Short Answers) covering research paper analysis, data interpretation, and question formulation. Round 2 (Semi-Finals): 120 minutes, virtual & in-person. Format includes 20 questions (10 MCQ & 10 Short Answers) with free-response questions evaluated by qualified researchers. Round 3 (Finals): Duration varies, virtual. Format involves formulating a research proposal in a case study format and presenting it to a panel of neuroscience professors and experts.
How entries are judged
Round 1 assesses analytical and critical thinking abilities. Round 2 evaluates participants' ability to articulate and apply their understanding of scientific concepts. The Final Round judges research proposals based on a provided rubric, assessing case analysis and presentation skills.
Selection process
Participants who meet a predetermined cutoff score based on overall performance in the Open examinations will advance to the semifinals. The top 20 participants from the semifinals will advance to the finals.

Fees & financial support
Fee details
Registration for the International Neuroscience Olympiad (INO) is $10 USD. A fee waiver can be requested by emailing contact@ino-global.net if the fee poses a financial hardship. For registrations through ASEEDER, the fee includes participation in all rounds but excludes logistics costs.

Refund policy
If unable to attend after paying the fee, contact INO. A 25% deduction of the registration fee applies for cancellations before the registration deadline. No refund will be given for cancellations after the registration deadline.
