About This Opportunity
The International Psychology Olympiad (IPsyO) is an annual global competition designed for high school students passionate about psychology. It provides a unique online platform to challenge and stimulate students, helping them expand their talents and potential to become future leaders in mind and behavior science. The competition aims to identify, inspire, empower, and support students interested and talented in psychology, developing their knowledge and skills to benefit society.
Students currently enrolled in high school, secondary, or pre-collegiate education are eligible to participate. Participants must be graduating in the year following the event or later. The competition is held entirely online, making it accessible to students from various countries and regions, including India.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of psychological concepts and their real-world applications. The Olympiad offers a globally recognized credential that can significantly enhance college applications, especially for those pursuing majors in psychology, neuroscience, behavioral sciences, or education. It also fosters critical thinking, analytical skills, and research abilities.
The competition consists of two main stages: the Global Grand Test (individual qualification round) and the International Final Round (team competition). Top performers from each country or region in the Grand Test advance to form national teams for the Final Round, which includes a material-based objective exam and a research proposal presentation.

Rounds & format
The IPsyO consists of two main rounds: the Global Grand Test and the International Final Round. The Global Grand Test is an individual qualification round with a 150-minute objective exam. The International Final Round is a team competition with a 120-minute material-based objective exam and a research proposal presentation (7 days preparation, 7 minutes presentation).
How entries are judged
For the Global Grand Test, performance distribution determines four tiers for Grade Certificates. For the Final Round, gold, silver, and bronze awards are given based on the total score of the exam and presentation. Specific modules also recognize top individuals and teams.
Selection process
Top-performing students from each country or region in the Global Grand Test, achieving Distinction or higher, will advance to the International Final Round. These students will form national/regional teams.
