About This Opportunity

The International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC) is the world's most prestigious public speaking event, bringing together articulate young speakers from over 40 countries for a week of competition and cultural exchange in London. It promotes oracy and intercultural understanding on a global stage.

Open to students aged 16 to 20 who have won their national public speaking competitions, this event offers invaluable experience in public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasion. Rounds & format

The international competition in London consists of several rounds, including initial heats, a semi-final, and the Grand Final. Participants deliver both prepared and impromptu speeches.

How entries are judged

Judges assess speakers based on four key skill sets: Expression and Delivery (non-verbal communication), Reasoning and Evidence (content and analysis), and Listening and Response (engagement with the topic and audience questions). Originality and clarity are highly valued.

Selection process

Participants are the winners of their respective ESU-affiliated national public speaking competitions. Only one representative from each participating country is eligible to compete in the international final.
