About This Opportunity

The Indian Robotics Olympiad (IRO) ROBO Adventures - Explorers is a prestigious national competition designed for young minds aged 5-7. This category focuses on lake conservation through robotics, where participants will engage in story-driven challenges. Guided by Kubo the LakeBot, children will address environmental tasks such as tree planting, island drops, playzone ferries, and lake cleanup, sparking natural curiosity and introducing fundamental STEM concepts in an engaging way.

This competition is open to students aged 5 to 7 years across India. Participants can compete individually or in teams of two, and each student or team must be guided by a coach who is at least 18 years old. The construction and coding of the robot must be done solely by the team members, fostering a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and independent problem-solving.

Participants will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and basic programming skills while gaining hands-on experience with robotics. The competition provides a unique platform for designing and building robots to address real-world environmental challenges. It also offers national-level recognition and the opportunity to build a dynamic portfolio from an early age, encouraging a strong foundation in STEM.

The ranking is based on the best score from the two robot attempts. If competing teams have the same score, the ranking will be decided by the time record.

How entries are judged

Teams are judged on their robot's ability to successfully complete tasks such as tree planting, island drop, playzone ferry, and lake cleanup within the given time limit. Scores are awarded for each completed mission, and ties are broken by the time taken to complete the tasks.

Selection process

Teams are selected based on their performance in the competition rounds, with rankings determined by the highest score achieved across their robot attempts. Timings are used as a tie-breaker.
