Academic requirement

- Candidate must not have appeared for the JNVST on any previous occasion.
For students in Class 5, aged 10-12 years. Must be studying in a recognized school in the same district as the JNV. A minimum of 75% of seats are reserved for rural candidates, with additional reservations for SC/ST/OBC, girls, and differently-abled students.

Selection is based on the marks obtained in the JNV Selection Test. A merit list is prepared for each district, and candidates are selected based on their rank, subject to the reservation norms of NVS.
Selection process
Selection is based on merit in the JNVST, subject to fulfillment of all eligibility conditions and reservation criteria. At least 75% of seats are for rural candidates, with further reservations for SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC (27%), and Divyang (3%) candidates. One-third of the total seats are reserved for girls.
