About This Opportunity

The Mekathlon Manual Sumo Bot competition is an exciting national event where students design and operate their own remote-controlled sumo robots. The main objective is to strategically push an opponent's robot out of a circular arena, known as the Dohyo, putting engineering skills, strategy, and control to the test in a competitive format.

Participation is open to students from grades 3 to 12, divided into Developers (Grades 3-7) and Innovators (Grades 8-12) to ensure fair competition. No prior robotics experience is required, making it a perfect opportunity for beginners to dive into STEM, while experienced students can hone their skills on a national stage.

Prerequisites

Rounds & format

The zonal rounds are invited to participate in the Grand Finale. The competition is conducted in a league format. Each match consists of 3 rounds, with each round lasting up to 1 minute.

How entries are judged

A team earns a 'Yuhkoh' point by forcing the opponent's robot to touch the area outside the ring. The first team to score two Yuhkoh points wins the match. If no team scores two points within the three rounds, the team with one point wins. The final winner is decided by the judges based on points and performance.

Selection process

Top 6 teams from the zonal rounds are invited to participate in the Grand Finale held in Bengaluru.
