About This Opportunity
The Moon Camp Challenge is an inspiring global educational project where students design a futuristic habitat for astronauts. Participants tackle real-world problems of long-term space exploration, such as radiation protection, energy production, and resource utilization, by creating innovative solutions for living on the Moon.
This competition is open worldwide to teams of students up to 19 years old, guided by a teacher or mentor. It features an open format, allowing submissions from 3D designs and scientific experiments to hands-on models, making it accessible for all skill levels and encouraging the development of critical skills like scientific inquiry, 3D design, and teamwork.

Academic requirement
Open to all students up to 19 years old. Students enrolled in post-secondary or tertiary institutions are not eligible.
Prerequisites
- No prior 3D design experience is required for the beginner levels.
- Access to a computer and internet connection.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn 3D design software like Tinkercad or Fusion 360 is recommended for more advanced categories.
Open to students worldwide aged up to 19. Participants must form a team guided by a teacher, educator, or parent. The challenge is accessible to all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Submissions must be made by the adult team leader.

How entries are judged
Projects are evaluated based on creativity and innovation, feasibility, quality of the 3D design, and how well the design is adapted to the lunar environment. Specific criteria include innovation and inventiveness (25%), software skills (25%), suitability to purpose (25%), and the clarity of the project report (25%).
Selection process
Winners are selected by an expert jury based on the judging criteria, with top entries chosen from both ESA Member States and non-ESA Member States across different competition categories.
