About This Opportunity

RoboCupJunior OnStage invites student teams to create a captivating 1-2 minute robotic performance. The challenge is to design, build, and program autonomous robots that perform creatively on a stage, blending technology with arts like dance, storytelling, or theatre in an open-ended and innovative format.

Participation is open to students across India, who are judged on the performance, technical skills, creativity, and engineering process. This includes a technical interview, a poster presentation, and a live demonstration, providing a unique platform to develop skills in engineering, software development, and creative expression.

Eligibility: Students aged 14-19 years (as of July 1st of the competition year). Team Size: 2 to 5 members per team. Location: Open to all students across India. Each team member must have a defined technical role.

Rounds & format

The competition typically involves regional or zonal qualifiers leading to a national final event. Teams present their performance and undergo technical judging at each stage.

How entries are judged

Teams are judged based on a comprehensive set of criteria. The final score is a combination of: OnStage Performance (50%), Technical Interview (30%), Technical Description Poster (10%), and Open Technical Demonstration (10%). Judging focuses on technical complexity, programming quality, robot autonomy, creativity of the performance, and teamwork.

Selection process

Teams that win at the regional/zonal level competitions qualify to participate in the Indian National RoboCup Junior Competition. The winning team from the national finals is then selected to represent India at the RoboCup International event.
