About This Opportunity

The Science Promotion Orient Test (SPOT) is an annual national-level science assessment examination organized by the Vikram Sarabhai Science Foundation (VSSF), Kochi. Approved by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, SPOT aims to evaluate students' conceptual knowledge and understanding of science across various disciplines.

The examination is conducted in two online phases: SPOT Prelims (Level 1) and SPOT100 (Level 2/Final). These phases are designed to shortlist and support 'SMART & BRIGHT' students. Participants gain intellectual and academic benefits through an interactive Science portal, SPOTLink, which provides resources and engagement opportunities for several months.

Engaging with SPOT helps students develop critical thinking skills, including the ability to ask questions, collect information, organize and test ideas, problem-solve, and apply learned concepts. It also serves as a powerful platform for building confidence, enhancing communication skills, and fostering an understanding of a world increasingly shaped by Science & Technology. VSSF also recognizes the contributions of science teachers through the SPOT Science Educator Award.

The program offers unique opportunities like exclusive access to online science talk shows by renowned scientists, educational tours to premier scientific centers like TIFR Mumbai, IISc Bangalore, and ISRO, and internships in Space Science at reputed research centers for top qualifiers. Scholarships are also awarded to high-ranking SPOT100 students.
