Rounds & format
The Olympiad is conducted in three levels. Level 1 is held at the school level. Top performers from Level 1 (Top 1000 Olympiad rank holders between 4 and 1003 with minimum marks of 50% and above) qualify for Level 2 (Zonal Olympiad). Finally, the top rankers from Level 2 (Classes 6-12) compete in Level 3, the International round, held in New Delhi.
How entries are judged
Participants are ranked based on the marks obtained in the multiple-choice question test. There is no negative marking. In case of a tie, scores from different sections of the paper are considered to determine the rank.
Selection process
Students who are among the top 1000 rank holders in Level 1 or are class toppers with a minimum of 75% marks (in schools with over 100 participants) qualify for Level 2. First rank holders from Level 2 (Classes 6-12) are eligible for Level 3.
