Technothlon is an annual international school championship meticulously organized by the dedicated student community of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. Since its inception in 2004 with the motto "Inspire Young Minds," it has expanded its reach significantly, now encompassing over 450 cities across India and various international centers.
This prestigious competition is meticulously designed to assess and enhance students' cognitive and analytical abilities through engaging and creative problem-solving tasks. Unlike traditional exams, Technothlon emphasizes logical reasoning and practical application over rote memorization, fostering critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving skills. The competition unfolds in two distinct rounds: the Prelims and the Mains.
The Prelims is a comprehensive written examination conducted across numerous schools throughout India. Successful teams from the Prelims then advance to the Mains, an exciting event-based competition held on the vibrant campus of IIT Guwahati during Techniche, the institute's annual techno-management festival.

There is no specific age limit, but participants must be enrolled in a recognized education board in India or international centers. Participation is strictly in teams of two.

Academic Details
What's covered
The Technothlon exam does not adhere to a fixed academic curriculum. Instead, it focuses on general knowledge, aptitude skills, and analytical ability. The syllabus broadly includes logical reasoning, puzzles, and analytical reasoning. Mathematical questions may cover topics such as number systems, algebra, geometry, mensuration, permutation and combinations, and probability, but are designed to test application and logic rather than rote formulas.
