Rounds & format
The World Scholar's Cup Tournament of Champions is a Final International Round. Teams must qualify from a Regional Round to advance to a Global Round, and then from a Global Round to the Tournament of Champions.
How entries are judged
Debates are judged on presentation (comfort, poise, emphasis, tone, passion), strategy (clear progression of speech, relation to teammates' speeches), and content (imagination, logic, understanding of subject matter). The Scholar's Challenge awards points inversely proportional to the number of answers chosen if multiple answers are selected for a single-correct-answer question. The Scholar's Bowl awards more points for harder, successive questions.
Selection process
Performance is judged on points earned in each event (Challenge, Writing, Debate, Bowl). These scores are aggregated to determine overall champions (individual and team). Excellence in any single event can also lead to medals/trophies, even if the team isn’t an overall champion.
