About This Opportunity

The Veer Gatha Project is a national competition for school students, initiated by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education. Its primary goal is to share the stories of bravery and sacrifice of India's Gallantry Award winners with the youth, fostering a spirit of patriotism and civic consciousness.

Participation is open to students from grades 3 to 12 from all schools across India, including those affiliated with CBSE and state boards. Students create and submit projects like poems, essays, paintings, or multimedia presentations based on the lives and valor of these national heroes to win national recognition and exciting prizes.

Academic requirement

Students must be enrolled in a school recognized by any State/UT Government or affiliated with any board in India.

Prerequisites

  • Entries must be original and created by the student.

Open to students in grades 3-12 from all recognized schools across India (including State/UT boards and CBSE). Submissions must be original creative works (poem, essay, painting, video etc.) based on the lives of India's Gallantry Award winners.

How entries are judged

Entries are judged based on originality of expression, creativity, relevance to the theme, presentation, and the depth of research on the gallantry award winner.

Selection process

Schools select the best entry from each category for submission. These entries are then evaluated by nodal officers and committees at the district and state levels. The top entries from each state are forwarded for national-level evaluation to select the final 100 winners.
