About This Opportunity
The Wolfram Summer Research Program is an intensive, in-person experience designed for motivated high school students passionate about STEM subjects. Held at Bentley University near Boston, Massachusetts, the program aims to advance students' programming and problem-solving skills through active-learning activities, hands-on workshops, and lectures. Participants will explore the power of modern computation and delve into STEM fields while mastering Wolfram Language, computational thinking, and research skills.
This program is open to high school students aged 14 to 17. While prior programming experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory, as a pre-program workshop is available to help students get up to speed. Applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm for computational thinking and a willingness to engage in intensive research activities. International students are welcome and must obtain any necessary visas.
Under the guidance of expert mentors, students will research and implement solutions to cutting-edge problems, often selected in collaboration with Stephen Wolfram. Each student will write a computational essay and an interactive research paper, publishing their work at the end of the program. Successful projects can be submitted to STEM competitions, turned into academic papers, or presented at the Wolfram Technology Conference.
Beyond the summer, successful students can enter Wolfram's ecosystem of educational opportunities, including advanced projects at the Wolfram Emerging Leaders Program, joining the teaching team, connecting with professional mentors, or engaging with fundamental physics and metamathematics research at the Wolfram Institute. Particularly successful students may also be invited to complete internships at Wolfram Research.
