About This Opportunity

The WRC RC Craft Challenge, an integral part of the TechnoXian World Robotics Championship, invites participants to design and construct an aerodynamically stable remote-controlled (RC) plane. This competition emphasizes the plane's ability to achieve successful flight, including taking off, landing, and performing various maneuvers. It serves as a premier platform for young innovators to demonstrate their engineering talent and design prowess in the fields of robotics and automation.

This challenge welcomes individuals and teams from schools, colleges, universities, and vocational institutions across India and internationally. Participants of all age groups up to 30 years are eligible to form teams of 2 to 10 members. A key requirement is that participants must construct their own RC plane; the use of ready-made kits is strictly prohibited to ensure originality and promote hands-on learning.

Participants will acquire valuable practical skills in robotics, aerodynamics, and complex problem-solving. Winners are awarded significant cash prizes, and all participants receive a certificate of participation from the All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA). This competition provides a unique opportunity for national and international recognition within the dynamic field of robotics.

The competition is structured into three rigorous rounds: two elimination rounds and a final round. The performance of each RC plane will be evaluated based on its ability to navigate hurdles, complete circuits efficiently, and demonstrate exceptional stability and pilot control. Negative points may be incurred for crashes, emphasizing precision and careful execution.

Rounds & format

The competition has three rounds: two elimination rounds and a final round. In the elimination rounds, teams must take off from a specific location and land within a predetermined circular landing spot in the minimum time possible. The top 25 teams with the best timings will move to the final round. The final round involves completing a circuit while avoiding hurdles placed in the flying zone. Points are awarded for maneuvering through hurdles and time taken, with stability and pilot control also judged.

How entries are judged

Performance of the RC plane in all rounds/arenas will be evaluated individually. Judging criteria include the ability to take off, land, maneuver, navigate through hurdles, complete the circuit in minimum time, stability, and pilot's control ability. Negative points will be awarded for crashes.

Selection process

Teams are selected based on their performance in the elimination rounds, with the top 25 teams advancing to the final round. The final winner is determined by the maximum points scored in the final round.
