About
SPIC MACAY is a voluntary youth movement dedicated to promoting India's intangible cultural heritage — classical music, classical dance, folk arts, yoga, meditation, traditional handlooms and handicrafts, and heritage cinema — among youth across India and the world. Founded in 1977 at IIT Delhi by Dr. Kiran Seth, the organisation operates through 400+ chapters across all states and union territories of India, reaching 250+ districts, and maintains a presence in 20+ countries. Approximately 5,000 events are conducted annually through its volunteer network. SPIC MACAY's programmes span live classical concerts, the residential Gurukul Anubhav Scholarship, the annual International Convention, heritage walks, yoga intensives, and craft workshops conducted in schools, colleges, and institutions nationwide. Its founder Dr. Kiran Seth was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009.
