About
The Art of Living Foundation is a globally recognized volunteer-based, educational, and humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO). Founded in 1981 by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the foundation now operates in over 180 countries, guided by its vision of creating a stress-free, violence-free society. At the heart of its offerings are self-development programs that blend yoga, meditation, and powerful breathing techniques, most notably the Sudarshan Kriya™, which has helped millions worldwide manage stress and discover inner peace. Its initiatives are inclusive, welcoming people from all faiths, cultures, and walks of life. For youth and children, the foundation offers specialized workshops such as Utkarsha Yoga (for ages 8–13) and Medha Yoga (for ages 14–18). These courses focus on the holistic growth of young minds, fostering mental clarity, emotional balance, physical vitality, and social awareness through interactive activities, yoga, and practical wisdom. It also organizes cultural platforms like Jhankriti through its cultural wing, World Forum for Art and Culture, which celebrate and preserve India’s rich artistic heritage while nurturing young talent. In the field of education, the foundation runs free schools for underprivileged children, providing not only academics but also nutrition, uniforms, and life-skills training. This reflects its commitment to both access and quality in education, ensuring that disadvantaged communities are empowered with opportunities for growth.
