THIMUN Foundation

The THIMUN Foundation is an international educational non-governmental organization established in 1981 and based in The Hague, Netherlands. It is dedicated to fostering global citizenship, diplomacy, and international understanding among secondary school students through its renowned Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. The foundation organizes several annual conferences, with THIMUN The Hague being its flagship event held each January at the World Forum convention centre. THIMUN also organizes THIMUN Singapore and supports a vast global network of affiliated MUN conferences that adhere to the established THIMUN methodology. The THIMUN rules of procedure are widely recognized as the foundational framework for hundreds of affiliated MUN conferences worldwide, establishing the foundation as a global standard-bearer for school-level Model United Nations practice. The organization maintains a no-awards policy across its conferences, prioritizing the quality of debate and substantive engagement over competitive outcomes. Annually, THIMUN conferences attract thousands of secondary school delegates from over 100 countries, including a significant number of participants from India. The foundation's leadership includes Chair Alain Meidinger and Managing Director Esmeralda van der Hout, operating from its headquarters in The Hague.
